You can Meet more Japanese Girls Here
I have been surprised by the photographer's community here in Portland. After living her more than 3 years, my list of good friends (or any friends for that matter) has always remained sparse.
These past couple of months, as I have stretched myself and watched my network continue to grow, that has changed. I've discovered a pool of intriguing artists including makeup artists, hair stylists and models who have surprised me with their openness and kindness. I have found friends who don't fit into any one mold, such as mothers, struggling artists, dreamers and last- wanderers (like myself).
I find myself feeling very close to people with whom I've only discussed colors and wardrobe. I have found that bonding sometimes only needs such layers.
I finally took a day off from photography/writing/nannying/housewife-ing! I spent the entire day at the beach with a couple of girls, who like me, were only interested in eating sweets and scoping out the boutiques. At the end of the day, we took some shots along the coast. It was beautiful, warm and fun. What more can a girl ask for?
This couple was amazing to work with. They had a great connection with each other and their guests. It really translated into their photos too.
Will post more soon ( :
I am really excited to begin studying some new favorite photographers. I think that I learn best by pursuing my inspirations.
It's been a treat to connect with Portland photographers, like Eric Rose http://flickr.com/photos/eric-rose/ , who represent the style and standard of photography I aspire to.
I'm pretty excited about some of my latest shoots. It may take a bit to process them, but please be patient. The best shots are still to come ( :
Just wanted to upload a quick sample from my latest shoot for Julia Barbee's designer bridal line.
I am backed up with photos to edit for what seems like a life time. I've got a project to finish for class and a few weddings to edit these next couple of weeks.
Editing: the dark side of photography.
Who knew?
Mmmm... I have been studying some other photographer's work lately. It kind of puts me to shame, because in my pursuit of simple experience, I think I've lost some of my creative perspective. I mean, the reason I enjoy shooting so much, is because of raw quality I find in folks. Because of the poetry in life. Cheesy as it may sound ( ; So, I am going to try and work that part of myself out into print.
Here's to a new direction!!!
